Are you an experienced Database Administrator Team Lead looking to manage a large team of DBAs and broaden your skills with other database technologies?

As Database Services Team Leader, your primary objective is to ensure Cambridge Assessment database infrastructure is continually developed, performant and secure. You will work as part of and provide leadership to expert DBAs based in Cambridge UK, Manila and India. You will have a strong customer service mind-set leading a superior database functional service supporting technical teams based onshore and offshore. We automate everything we can and you will help to drive our efficiencies and automation initiatives further forward.

As Database Services Team Leader you will be responsible for operating and supporting the full lifecycle of existing infrastructure, investigating and implementing new technology. You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels using your skills and experience to lead our database technology strategy.

What you'll be doing

As Database Services Team Leader, you will:

Collaborate with, lead, coach and mentor a team of DBAs skilled in Oracle, MS SQL Server, SQL Azure, AWS, SAP Hana, Hadoop, Postgres, MySQL and Interbase

Provide line management and personal development for the onshore technical DBA team

Help to build agile team processes that enable high throughput

Foster collaboration within and between teams

Lead database technology roadmaps - design, implement & administer databases and related platforms.

Provide collaboration and functional support to Operation, Development and other technical teams

Identify and address automation opportunities using scripting and 3rd party tools

The successful candidate will need:

Demonstrable experience of leading, mentoring and motivating a technically focused team in an enterprise environment

Excellent interpersonal skills

A methodical and logical approach to problem solving with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Graduate calibre

In depth database administration knowledge of Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server including HA and DR experience (Certifications preferred)

DBA knowledge in SQL Azure, AWS, SAP Hana, Big Data or Open Source technologies would be a distinct advantage.

Database infrastructure project management skills

Significant automation skills

A good understanding of virtualisation technologies in relation to database configuration and performance.

Foundation level ITIL certification
