Huxley Engineering and one of Europe's largest names in Engineered Solutions for Renewables, Oil and Gas Industries are looking to recruit a Senior Materials Engineer / Specialist on a permanent basis, due to succession planning within the business.

Based in the Wigan area, the Senior Materials Engineer will be responsible for the specification, development and implementation of new and current material technologies to the business, as well as providing support to production, innovation and other departments requiring technical input.

In addition the Senior Materials Engineer will be managing the day to day workload of the Materials Science team, mentoring and supporting other members of the Materials Science team, as well as developing, agreeing and achieving annual targets and delivering approved strategic initiatives.

Main Duties of Senior Materials Engineer:

* Designing, organising and executing material qualification programmes in customer specific applications.

* Collecting, collating and analysing material properties, derived from experimental data.

* Utilising data analysis tool packs (e.g. Six Sigma) to support the business in continuous improvement initiatives.

* Evaluating new materials or formulations to suit new applications.

* Supporting the resolution of non-conformance reports by contributing to, or leading root cause analysis.

* Material troubleshooting to support production functions.

* Confirming by experimentation the efficacy and suitability of materials for use in manufacturing

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Required for Senior Materials Engineer Role:

* Educated at least to degree level in Chemistry, Materials Science or Polymer Engineering (Or related field)

* Materials Development / Materials Engineering experience with polymer, thermoset, thermoplastic or rubber materials.

* Developing material systems and technologies.

* Develop, formulate and optimise polymer and composite systems.

* Understand mechanical analysis and its relevance to polymer properties.

* Provide technical leadership to multifunctional teams in materials development projects.

For the successful Senior Materials Engineer, a salary up to £35,000 is on offer plus package and this role is commutable from Liverpool, Preston, Southport, Ormskirk, Bolton, Prescot, Manchester Warrington, Runcorn, Wigan and Salford
