Solution / Software Designer / Architect / Leeds / up to £500 per day

I am looking for a Contract Solution / Software Designer to work with a FTSE 250 listed financial organisation in Leeds. You will be working within one of its divisions that develop market leading applications for the finance industry.

Contract length is initially 3 months with high possibility of further extensions. Day rate on offer is £400 - £500 depending in experience.

Your Role:

You will be working in an agile scrum environment and will be involved in Sprint planning, End of sprint reviews, retrospectives and story point estimations.

As a Solution / software designer you will be performing various tasks such as:-

* Application Development - form a member of the application delivery Scrum teams, using ATDD & BDD to on-develop the group's applications and manually performing solution acceptance testing;

* Client and Internal Project Support - client and internal projects as subject matter experts, providing design & analysis services that supports the Consultants and Project Managers.

* Define Acceptance Test scenarios, based on a Behavioural Driven Design (BDD) approach, using Gherkin notation;

* Produce, where required, Solution Design documentation for use in Sprint execution, which will arise from the Elaboration phase (i.e. Sprint);

* Document the software solution, architectural diagrams, functional behaviour, technical configuration;

* Define the interface and behaviour of the RESTful API methods;

* Work with the Solution Architect and Software Developers to perform Spike investigations on proposed new technologies and approaches;

* Deploy the ice.Net software solution using Octopus and TeamCity;

* Progress both software defects and new features using YouTrack;

* Support external Client software integrations with the RESTful API;

* Assist in external Client project initiation workshops, including high level estimating.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to:-

* Strong commercial acumen and a focus on resolving problems with key commercials and service delivery in mind

* Change oriented and highly consultative when working with others

* Knowledge of the finance/lending industry (highly desirable)

* Sound RDBMS knowledge and experience (particularly SQL/Oracle experience preferably in the development environment

* GUI/Client Server/CASE knowledge and experience (desirable)

* Proven experience of business analysis and application design

* Knowledge and experience of XML/JSON and web services / API design (highly desirable)

* Direct experience of engaging in projects on waterfall and agile approaches;

* Significant experience of large integration projects, knowledge of API (Application Programming Interfaces) protocols and applications for the transfer of data

* Have worked in a similar capacity within a multi customer, SaaS software environment

* Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work stream activities simultaneously

* Must be flexible, independent and self-motivated
