Position: DevOps Engineer

Location: Leeds

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

The DevOps / WebOps Engineer is a key role in our company, working in a multi-disciplinary squad of highly skilled individuals. This is a chance to join one of the highest-performing teams in the industry. We will challenge you, support you, teach you and are keen for you to teach us.

What you will do....

You will be part of an agile, multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for the delivery and running of your own highly available and high throughput services. We keep the teams small in the "two pizza" sense, with your role providing the operational expertise across the full stack for the team.

Development of infrastructure through reusable code with automated tooling and testing

Development and maintenance of release strategies and pipelines for your code and configuration

Advocate monitoring to get accurate feedback on customer experience as well as performance and reliability metrics

Ensure the squad can meet the security, regulatory and compliance requirements that come with ensuring reliable and trusted services

Collaborate and guide with your squad and others to resolve engineering problems and incidents

Build the non-functionals into our services to ensure the best customer experience and reliability

Non-negotiable skills:

1) Experience at working with large throughput or high profile web services. This is all about having a solid experience of how the fundamentals of how networks, code and servers work together.

2) Linux experience. Even in a containerised world, our operational people need to lead on some complex problems that involve understanding the underlying workings of Unix.

3) Development experience - Anywhere from I can write scripts and version control out Configuration Management changes to Im a Haskell lover.

Chef for CM

Jenkins for CI/CD

Majority of private cloud in VMware with some services in AWS. Some services are containerised but this is limited for production services.
