DATA ARCHITECT

Purpose of the role:

As part of the Architecture Team within IT Services -

* Be a point of consultation for Data related projects and evangelise how Data can support the business strategic initiatives including the ownership and implementation of the data strategy.

* Design and develop standard processes for integrating data and applications.

* Lead the creation of data governance policies and processes within IT and the Business

* Provide general technical advice on Data related technologies.

* Be part of a team of Architects working with Developers and Analysts to help deliver and support the change portfolio.

* Manage and help develop the Data Analysis team.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Knowledge - Develop an understanding of the current BFS infrastructure, applications and environments. Understand how Data related technologies can be leveraged to help achieve the IT strategy.

Support - Assist and be responsible for governance through Technical Design Authority to ensure solutions are implemented in-line with the data strategy and deliver data artefacts in support of portfolio deliveries.

Continuous Improvement - Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to formulate and assess ideas for new and improved solutions and input into prioritisation, impact analysis, estimates and scheduling.

Change Analysis - Perform analysis of business requirements to generate architectural design for new and amended Data solutions - providing consultancy where needed to help refine requirements and find the best solution to business requirements and to devise performance and test criteria for Data solutions.

Change Documentation - Ensure that all designs are in line with agreed architectural standards, policies, principles and project artefacts.

Testing Support - Support the testing and verification of all Data solutions to ensure that requirements have been met, and solutions conform to design standards.

Standards and Governance - Develop standards, processes, quality and performance criteria for Data solutions to ensure consistency across the BFS environment.

Strategic Direction - Work with the architecture team and other members of the operations team to create and maintain a strategic roadmap for Data solutions within BFS. Own Data OCA (Operational Control Area)

Any other duties or projects commensurate with the level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Requirements for the role

Essential:

* Knowledge/experience of RDBMS, NoSQL and Big Data technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL

* T-SQL, R, MDX, DAX langages

* Extensive experience with in at least some of the following:

* Data Modelling

* Business Intelligence and Analytics

* Data Quality and Data Governance

* Data Integration and Architecture

* Understand the differences between IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions
