Senior Data Insight Analyst

The Pay: You will be paid between £35,000 and £52,000 per year plus bonus

Location: In the heart of Manchester

Benefits: 7% performance bonus and flexible benefits package worth 20% of salary, ongoing internal and external training package, some remote working, pension, flexible working hours, regular team lunches and yearly team building, minimum 25 Days holiday plus bank holidays, discounts off your shopping, cycle to work scheme, dental and private health insurance.

You would want to work here if you:

Are currently working in an Analyst role but would like the opportunity to set up a new BI function and want to work for a large global payments company where you can make a big impact to their financing and collection strategies. You have strong stakeholder management skills and are confident in presenting data insight to the operations team. You are talented at data mining and consolidation and are interested in learning how to automate BAU processes.

You’re awesome at:

              Manipulating SQL
              Managing Stakeholders
              Running meaningful reports
              Excel
              Visual Studio (VS)

And know a bit of:

              SSIS
              Data consolidation
              Data Warehousing Principals
              Business Insight (BI)
              Data Mining

It’s a real bonus if you:

Would like to move into a lead position
Know how to set up Data Automation
              Have financial experience

A Day in the Life:

You’ll typically start the day with a quick social over coffee in the kitchen and catch up with the various office staff. You will start work with the data analyst team (a team of 4) and start to collaborate with stakeholders collating data and information.

You will mine data proactively and carry out meaningful analysis to test incentives for either the collections department or financing department. You then create reports and develop metrics for decision makers with your findings and before you know it, it’s lunchtime, everyone has an hour.

In the afternoon, you will deliver a presentation to one of the teams regarding your findings and recommended approaches to increase business performance. If you have SQL development and automation experience you may spend the remainder of the afternoon developing an automated process to mine data more efficiently for future analysis.

If you prefer analysis over development, you will continue analysing and creating useful reports. You will collaborate with the data departments in Sheffield and Nottingham to research the methods they used to set up their SQL Data Warehouses and work closely as a team to create a similar approach.

If you wish to take the lead analyst position, you will likely spend the afternoon meeting members in your team for their daily 121s, helping to support them and increase team performance through training and various motivational tools. You will finish between 4pm and 5pm depending on what time you started in the morning.

Role Progression:
As this is a new BI function, the senior analyst positions will have very quick progression paths should you want them, you may move into Data Automation Development for the company or choose to lead the analyst team, which would lead onto a Data Management role.

The team:
The team will be managed by a Data Manager from London until it has grown to a team of 4 and everyone has trained up to the company standard. The team will be what you make it, other teams in the company share monthly or weekly lunches together and you will also have a budget for team building. You will work closely with each other and all be finding your feet and training at the same time.

Application process:
We will first discuss the company in more detail, you will then have a call set up with the Data Manager. If you are both interested to proceed, the next step is a SQL test and then a face to face meeting on site.

The job title of ‘senior’ relates simply to the level of experience and has no relevance to age. You are encouraged to apply for any opportunities that you feel to be suitable, irrespective of age or level of experience.
