Operations / Team Leader - IBM AS/400 - iPower - Power 8

£40,000 to £44,000 + Excellent Benefits Package + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

This established and dynamic financial services organisation are seeking a professional, energetic, challenge orientated and focused "technical hands-on" person to enhance their IBM AS/400 / Power 8 Operations Team.

This role is pivotal but challenging, diverse and rewarding and will offer you an opportunity to grow technically as the breadth of in-house technology and pipelined projects are substantial.

Reporting into the Operations Manager and leading your team of Operators, you will be the focal point of manual and automated operations and escalations for end users and project activity. You will also be required to take effective ownership of manual and automated systems tools, hardware and software used to deliver the services within the team.

Key requirements will evolve around:

* Provide input to strategic direction and discussion

* Understand the operational environment, external offerings and current "game changers"

* Understand major technical development direction of suppliers within own sphere of expertise

* Manage the mid-range environments (commonly known as AS/400s) to agreed availability and performance targets

* Actively drive security improvements

* Proactively drive activities to reduce service risk, increase resilience or improve performance working to reduce long term issues with problem management.

* Support projects as required

* Support remediation of faults and security vulnerabilities as required, including working with third parties if necessary

* Drive resolution of incidents and problems, especially those with a security implication, and take proactive action to avoid occurrence or repeats

* Ensure auditable adherence to DPA, ISO27001 and other applicable legislation and standards

The person required will require tenacity, patience, teamwork and the flexibility to go the extra mile and offer a 1st class operations experience. As the AS/400 SME you will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with new hardware and software technologies with a number of major technical projects imminent.

The role will require a solid mix IBM technical, functional, people and team management.
