Linux Senior Engineer - in-house consultancy

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be at the heart of the engineering process building software that empowers engineering teams to develop and deliver high quality products quickly. You will help build and run our next-generation technologies at global scale.

Senior Cloud Engineer are responsible for moulding scalable tools, infrastructure and processes that enable engineers to develop, test, debug and release software quickly. You live and love DevOps and will closely partner and collaborate with technical teams to effectively automate and accelerate delivering products and changes. You will apply your expertise of cloud computing stack, broad software technologies, and open source tools to solve cloud technology platform challenges, push technology forward and be always one step ahead in development platforms, new functionality and APIs.

Skills that Look Good

* Operating systems and systems management (e.G. Linux, OSX, and Windows)

* Scripting and development languages, including Python, Ruby, PERL, PHP

* Developer tools including Docker, Git, SVN, Artifactory, etc.

* Release automation technologies such as Jenkins or Bamboo

* Configuration Management (e.G. Terraform/Chef/Ansible/Puppet)

* Environment platform management systems such as OpenStack, Mezos or Cloudstack

* Storage solutions, automation and provisioning technologies

* Data center, network, and application architectures

* File Transport Solutions (e.G. Signiant, Aspera)

* Systems Security (e.G. Key management, encryption, vulnerability management)

Tasks on Start Up Project

* Linux platform administration with Ubuntu, CentOS and Redhat

* Deploy and support high-performance, highly-available infrastructure on Puppet Enterprise

* Engage in detailed planning, change control and through testing to ensure performance, availability and stability

* Configure and support middleware and webserver software on Linux platforms such as Apache and MySQL

* troubleshooting Incidents on Linux systems, along with security related activities - system hardening, patching, mitigation and vulnerability threat management.

* Configure and support system monitoring and management tools such as Xymon & Zabbix,

* Writing and maintaining Shell and/or python scripts.

Bonus Points

* Nice to have exposure in configuring and managing AWS EC2 environments

* Experience LDAP, SSSD and Kerberos

* Experience and management of infrastructure with Puppet Enterprise, Source control management and Git Repositories

* Working as part of a wider department general IT knowledge is a benefit

* Knowledge the dev/ops culture

* A Passion or respected experience in team leadership as a possible future development in the role

* Understanding and experience of working with the ITIL framework
