Key Responsibilities:

'€¢Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, databases, application software and system management tools to an agreed configuration and follow the current Governance and Change control processes'€¢Proactively manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring we achieve the best availability e.g. 99.999%'€¢Assist in the governance and influence the design and ongoing configuration of our NOC and the chosen Operations bridge'€¢Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes'€¢Be the lead internal consultant on capacity management'€¢Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies'€¢Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and automate tasks, also utilise automation technology when required'€¢Participate in the design of information and operational support systems'€¢Manage a team of experienced and junior engineers of up to 4 heads. The ability to ensure workloads are effectively managed with a purpose of ensuring there are shared primary and secondary skill sets in place'€¢Be an SME and even provide 3rd level support as required'€¢Provide and support systems across multiple environments that will serve Production, Test and DevOps (this may well be a hybrid proprietary and cloud model)'€¢Liaise with 3^rd party partners and other IT personnel for problem resolution'€¢Participate and as required lead meetings relative to technical systems, design, projects and service. '€¢Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux, Centos and Windows based environments'€¢Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of web application stacks (e.g., JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX) including NLB, caching and optimisation'€¢Recent experience of supporting and knowledgeable with regard the HPE density-optimised server products'€¢Solid Proprietary and Private Cloud experience, including capacity management'€¢A proven architect on virtualization, containerization and orchestration (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box, Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher) technologies'€¢The ability to manage and control system platforms for Production, QA and DevOps environments'€¢Manage any applicable licencing requirements whilst controlling and reporting on licence status.'€¢Experience with running and developing an Operations Bridge with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, New Relic)'€¢Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)'€¢Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)'€¢Proven networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)'€¢Good understanding of DBMS (e.g., MySQL, Couchbase, MongoDB, MS-SQL) and can follow the best design principles (e.g., ACID)'€¢Design and deployment experience in clustering technology (e.g., NDB, MSCS)'€¢Experience with messaging architecture and system (e.g., Rabbit MQ, Apache Kafta)'€¢Appreciation and understanding of architectural framework principles e.g. TOGAF'€¢Good experience with AD design and support'€¢Good understanding of O365 service from front to back end'€¢Prior experience with SMS, USSD and Payment gateways will be beneficial'€¢GDPR in practice knowledge and must follow ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS principles in work

Qualifications and Accreditations

'€¢BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Engineering or a related subject'€¢Professional Qualifications that will benefit; MCSE, RHCA or E, Docker Certified Associate, TOGAF accreditation
