Working for the UKs leading Engineering Support Services Organisation and joining a growing team you will work in conjunction with the various Company Sectors (e.g. Marine, Vehicle, Nuclear, Aviation) to identify opportunities, develop business cases, and oversee the delivery of projects and programmes that enable the Group to exploit value associated with the application of new technologies that enhance the services we deliver to our customers.

Overview

The various company sectors stand to benefit from a range of current and emerging technologies including: advanced manufacturing and materials, autonomous vehicles, data and analytics, automation. The Technology Development Managers will lead cross-Sector programmes focused on strategically important technologies to develop the business case to invest in the development of new technology based services, and maximise the benefits associated with investing in these technologies across the Group.

* Lead the development of high quality business cases that support the need for investment in specific technologies or novel applications of existing technologies.

* Working with the Sectors to identify, scope and assess technology opportunities through data driven assessment across all aspects of the business

* Based on an understanding of customer and business needs identify those technologies that will create significant value for the Company and its customers in managing and operating critical and complex assets

* Developing a prioritised programme for investment in new technology that will provide a sustainable competitive advantage and positive financial return for the businesses

* Determining where Group led investment will create additional value over and above a Business unit led investment and establishing a programme of activity that supports the delivery and realisation of that value.

Key Skills

* Proven track record within a similar role in a heavy industrial sector (Marine, Vehicle, Nuclear, Aviation etc.)

* Extensive knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their potential application to customers and Sectors

* Experience designing and delivering solutions utilising new technologies

* Excellent programme management skills

* Qualification in relevant technical / project management discipline

* Negotiation, communication and influencing skills.

* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and maintain an effective network.

* Willing to work in different sites and areas of the business and travel as necessary
