Opportunity for a proven Information Analyst with a strong understanding of healthcare policy to make a major contribution in developing solutions for NHS Trusts and providers, enabling them to provide patients with financially stable, consistently safe and high quality care.

NHS Improvement is the operational name for the organisation that brings together Monitor, NHS Trust Development Authority, Patient Safety, the National Reporting and Learning System, the Advancing Change team and the Intensive Support Teams. We hold providers to account and, where necessary, intervene to help the NHS to meet its short-term challenges and secure its future.

Matrix-managing a team of Information Analysts, the Senior Information Analyst will deliver a high quality data analytics service to NHS Improvement’s business teams with a focus on building self-service analytics solutions, which will allow business users to analyse data themselves. This will involve using extensive knowledge of NHS data and business processes, excellent technical skills in data management, business intelligence and analytics - data modelling, data visualisation (e.g. Tableau, Qlik), data blending (e.g. Alteryx, SSIS), and statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R), SQL, etc.

Working with the Principal Analyst(s), the Senior Information Analyst will take part in research on emerging analytics tools and technologies and contribute to putting forward options and recommendations on how NHS Improvement can take advantage of relevant tools and technologies to become a high-performing insight-driven organisation. The post holder will also deliver insightful analysis on topical issues as required and produce accurate and timely ad hoc, weekly and monthly management information.

The successful candidate will thrive working with minimal supervision, be comfortable in analysing complex data, practical minded and highly methodical in their approach. They must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups. Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project, will be advantageous.

The central analytical team is committed to professional and personal development, and we hold an expectation that individuals joining our analytical team actively strive for personal development, by seeking membership of professional analytical organisations such as AphA, BCS and/or Fedip.

In return we offer a competitive salary, plus a generous defined benefit pension scheme, competitive annual leave offer and the option for genuine flexible working arrangements.
