Thank you for your interest in the post of Technical Network Security Architect with Historic Environment Scotland based at Longmore House/ John Sinclair House. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment.

You will be working within in the office of the Chief Technology Officer CTO, your role will primarily focus on optimisation of all HES network security services, processes and components. This will include the strategies, design, development, implementation of new network and security technologies in line with HES road map to provide a secure and resilient network for HES.

Overview of the post and information about the team:

The post will work with CTO and other Technical Architects to assess and continuously improve the existing network architecture. Design High and Low level network security infrastructure plans to the tasks required and allocation of resources to successfully implement network changes. Engage and maintain supplier and vendor relationships to ensure the use of the latest technologies and best practises. Support the CTO and service operations by shaping the organisations network design and security policies to enhance the HES security posture.

Key responsibilities, duties and objectives:

- Supporting the CTO and Technical Architect team in shaping the technology roadmap for the organisation going forward from network and security aspect

- Be the SME, single point of contact, visionary and strategist for the Network Security architecture

- Maintain relationship with key suppliers and vendors, including proof of concept for new technologies

- Initiation and generation of new proposals including business justification for enhancing the Network Security architecture in line with HES IT and organisational strategy

- Assess existing and enhance network standards and security policies to improve change management and security posture

- Generate and deliver a roadmap for hardware replacement for critical Network and Security devices

- Negotiate and positively influence Project Managers and IT service leads regarding the matrix management of technical specialists and IT infrastructure resources

- Mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior network and security staff where required.

- Responsible for assessing and managing risks within all areas of network security changes

- Assist in Networks BAU Operations as required

- Assist in procurement and tender exercise and response
