One of the largest hospital trusts in the country, Guy's and St Thomas' has a strong reputation for excellence and innovation in medical progress and patient care. Right now, we are seeking to strengthen our Applications Support team with a highly dedicated and professional Database Administrator.

A key requirement of modern IT infrastructure is secure and timely access to and storage of vital data. The Trust, as most organisations, is now Dependent on storing data electronically inside its various databases. Stored data is likely to be highly sensitive and confidential. The Database Administrators is responsible for ensuring systems are secure and comply with legal and NHSLA requirements.

The Database Administrator plans, manages and maintains Trust databases, including those containing patient information, and ensures data is organised in a meaningful way so it can be easily maintained, retrieved and updated.

The postholder will act as the key link between IT&T and various database users in the wider Trust.

The successful candidate will have:

Significant experience as a database administrator

Experience of working in a large, complex organisation with a number of major IT&T systems

Experience in supporting a large scale, complex application systems environment

In additional they will have:

Sound database design skills

Good knowledge of SQL and Oracle

General understanding of network architectures (eg Client Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise)
