Salary: £19,638 - £22,769 (depending on experience)

We have an exciting opportunity for a website assistant to join our team and support us in our website, social media, SEO and analytical work. You will need some understanding of these areas, in particular analytics and websites, but most importantly we want the right person and are willing to offer training and support if you can prove that you have a strong aptitude in these areas.
We have recently relaunched our website and e-newsletter and need to provide learnings from the changes we are making. You will also be expected to contribute ideas for taking us forward in our online presence and be interested in developing your technical skills.
Interested candidates should have at least 12 months web experience. They should have excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage and interpret statistical information with regard to the website, e-newsletters and social media.
Job purpose:
To collect, aggregate and analyse online data and effectively report the results, impact and opportunities in order to increase online engagement with Practical Action.
Provide technical support to online content owners across the group and to regularly test the functional aspects of Practical Action’s website so that our site provides a positive and consistent user experience.
Manage our seo/linking capabilities so that we are making the most of opportunities to increase traffic to relevant sections of our website.
Job role:
Using Google Analytics and related tools to monitor website traffic, analyse user journeys, perform split-tests and goal -and event- focused reports.
Employ analytics to make recommendations and take forward a programme of continuous development and improvement for the website, social media and e-newsletter in order to increase traffic and user engagement.
Provide weekly insight reporting on social media and monthly reporting on e-newsletter and website activities and distribute to key internal stakeholders.
Discover, collect and interpret information from multiple data sources and tools and uncover insights, statistics and trends for our social media.
Assist with research, consultation and internal education for measuring social media across teams and initiatives.
Stay current with trends and innovation in social media, e-marketing and website ROI models, measurement, and tools.
Explore tool integration such as use of APIs, embedded widgets and other methods for combining and sharing data across tools and platforms.
Take responsibility for checking SEO, links, content, comments and user journeys on our website and fixing or updating where necessary.
Building links to other sites and working with the communications officer to identify opportunities for quality sites to link to us.
Helping other teams with technical issues when they are uploading or editing content.
Working with the Web Officer to provide training and support in the use of the content management system to other staff.
Sharing best practice with content owners to improve their understanding of user journeys, SEO and analysis.
Providing basic technical support on web development, including coding of HTML modules, dynamic content and Wordpress functionality (training will be provided to do this).
Participate in idea generation for new and innovative reporting initiatives and support the Communications team in developing clear measurement objectives and reporting as new initiatives are rolled out.
Work with the Website Officer to implement our website plan.
Any other relevant tasks specified by the Communications Manager.
Key skills, knowledge and experience
At least 12 months web experience and analytical experience
Excellent analytical skills - able to manage and interpret statistical information with regard to the website, e-newsletters and social media.
Experience of Google Analytics or Webmaster Tools an advantage, but not essential - training provided as necessary
Knowledge and understanding of search engine processes and how to influence them
Understanding of the online environment, including blogs, social media and content management systems, and experience of editing basic HTML
Excellent communications skills to include familiarity with Web formats and requirements (or ability to adapt style to web)
IT literacy to include all aspects of MS Office; fluent user of the internet
Ability to manage a number of demanding tasks simultaneously and to complete them to high standards by deadline
