Project Manager - Businesslink.gov.uk

Businesslink.gov.uk is regarded as one of the Government "super-sites" providing businesses with access to Government services and support. It will provide simple and efficient ways for businesses to transact with Government. Its success in meeting business needs will inspire those using the portal to spread the word about its value.

We are seeking Project Managers with public sector experience, to deliver the content tools and transactions that enable Businsslink to achieve its vision, of becoming the primary portal for businesses seeking support.

The Project Managers will manage a variety of projects including Technology and Web Convergence projects that will contribute to the overall success of the Business Link programme. You will be required to manage projects from initiation to completion. This is a fast paced role, and the ideal candidate will take responsibility for delivering challenging objectives that are on deadline and 'right first time'.

The ability to take complex propositions and communicate them in simple terms to senior management, 3rd party suppliers and stakeholders is essential; as is the ability to build lasting relationships with these parties.

About The Role:

* Plan and manage projects from Initiation through to Project Closure

* Development and approval of the required Business Link project deliverables from Initiation through to Project Closure

* Gathering and challenging business requirements and prioritising in conjunction with IT / web convergence proposals and available budget

* Manage projects and work streams against a set schedule in line with Business Link governance and approvals process.

* Effectively manage issues and risks and propose courses of management action to address them

* Actively work with the internal and external stakeholders ensuring both are well informed and expectations are managed

* Provide regular reporting using the Business Link reporting templates and processes

* Manage budget for individual projects

* Communicate and work with all parties involved in the projects, ensuring products are successfully delivered against time, cost and quality constraints

* Develop governance documentation for all projects (including Project Brief, PID, Stage Plans, etc)

* Development of end-to-end business models and requirements in conjunction with key stakeholders and suppliers

* Quality assures functional and technical deliverables are produced

Experience & Qualifications Required:

* Experience of full life cycle project management and managing multiple projects at the same time

* Experience of managing multiple stakeholders across a number of different government departments or local government (public sector experience important)

* Effective 3rd party supplier management experience including raising RFQ's, validating quotes, progress tracking, approvals and invoicing

* Some evidence of requirements capturing skills (including validation and prioritisation) and client side expectation management.

* Experience in managing small teams and allocation of resource depending on changing priorities

* Preferably project management for website development experience

* Working experience of structured project management tools, e.g Prince 2 and the Waterfall Model

* Microsoft Project.

* Budgets management and financial controls

* Knowledge of web and information architecture principals
