Application Support Engineer - UNIX

Position Summary :

You will be responsible for providing Level 2 functional and technical support for business applications within the Agentrics GenSource/GenShare & GenNovation product lines. Agentrics is the retail industry's largest commercial collaboration platform for retailers and their trading partners. Web Applications Support Engineer is an exciting position that provides a fast paced challenging environment. *Participate in large and complex deployments to Production and QA;

*Support Performance tuning;

*Monitor and debug complex JAVA and Windows based applications;

*Provide critical incident response;

*Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills for all tiers of web applications;

*Deploy patches and new releases of applications on Windows environments;

*Scripting, configuration of application components and environments, testing, documentation of activities;

*Provide day-to-day technical and functional expertise;

*Document processes and configurations.

To apply for this role you need to demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

*A solid understanding of Java development in a J2EE environment;

*Experience in maintenance, management, deployment and/or monitoring web-based applications, such as portals (Liferay), WebLogic, JBOSS, etc.;

*Successful completion of one or more certification programs, including Oracle 10g AS OCA/OCP; MCSE or MCP (Windows 2003 Server); BEA Certified Developer, Administrator or Architect; IBM CSA (WebSphere AS); Certified JBoss Administrator or RHCE;

*A background working in web application support or application deployment, preferably with Systems Administration;

*Prior experience in administration, maintenance or support of WebLogic, JBOSS;

*Experience with Apache, SunONE, Tomcat;

*Script writing in Bourne/Korn Shell, Perl and SQL Scripts;

*Working experience on UNIX (Sun Solaris 8, 9 ) and Microsoft Windows 2003 platforms

*Demonstrated use of Oracle and MS SQL databases;

*Ability to clearly communicate in writing, visually, and verbally is important

*We would prefer applicants to have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, however will accept formal training and relevant equivalent qualifications.
