BPP College is seeking two experienced instructional/curriculum designers to design and develop engaging, high quality e-learning solutions. The successful applicants will become key members of our newly created centre for innovation and programme design at BPP College. The instructional/curriculum designer will work closely with subject specialists in the design and production of online course materials for a range of programmes including degrees (masters and undergraduate) diplomas and certificates.

The post-holders will be expected to:

1. Analyse the educational needs and learning outcomes of a programme and work with the subject specialists to design course materials and assessments that are aligned with the those learning outcomes

2. Design and create course materials for an online environment

3. Use instructional/curriculum design theory and knowledge of e-learning methodology to assist in the design of online course materials and resources

4. Contribute creative and innovative ideas for e-learning resources and help create e-learning resources

5. Help draft instructions and learning outcomes in an online environment in clear, concise and well written English suited to the relevant student audience

6. Assist in establishing and running suitable quality assurance procedures in relation to the online learning experience of students

7. Assist the Dean of Learning and Teaching in developing new processes, instructional/curriculum design strategies and programme specifications that will enable the College to achieve its online ambitions

8. Participate in the validation of programmes

9. Assist in the collection and analysis of electronic feedback from students.

10. Maintain an awareness of current developments in learning technology and education.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

   •   Qualifications in e-learning development and instructional design or a related area

   •   Instructional design experience, preferably in the design of materials for adult learners

   •   Experience in the creation of e-learning resources using a range of software programmes

   •   Detailed knowledge of training theories, methodologies and techniques, particularly in relation to the use of technology in education

   •   Project management skills

   •   Excellent skills in the use of educational technology

   •   Knowledge of Blackboard or similar virtual learning environments

   •   Experience of developing content for blended learning programmes

Personal characteristics

Additionally the ideal candidate will:

   •   Be educated to degree level

   •   Have a genuine enthusiasm for technology and education

   •   Have excellent writing, editing and proof reading skills

   •   Have an ability to work as part of a team as well as independently

   •   Be capable of inspiring people to think about new ways of approaching educational design and using technology

   •   Be organised and methodical

   •   All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK or EU.

Salary

£35 000 per annum, 12 month probation period

Hours of Employment

37.5 hours per week. Normal hours are Monday - Friday 08.30-17.00 but may be varied in agreement with your line manager.

The post-holder may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Start date
