Are you looking for the opportunity to develop a modern website, helping to engage and delight a broad range of key users? Our dynamic digital marketing team are on a mission to make the best university website and we are looking for a talented senior web developer to help us make it happen.

The right candidate will have excellent front-end development skills and will be used to leading the development of a large website. If successful, you will lead a small team responsible for carrying out both front and back-end development while making use of agile development methodologies.

Our sites are built in .net using C#, but we are keen to keep pushing the boundaries of the site by utilising powerful technologies and frameworks such as react, JSON, SaSS and Foundation. As the senior web developer, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the site by learning and implementing new technologies to ensure we stay ahead of the competition.

To make sure that we are constantly evolving, you will be given the opportunity to expand your skill sets and make use of the team’s annual training budget to pursue both self-learning and formal training opportunities.

The Senior Web Developer role requires someone who will bring a lot of energy into creating an exciting and user friendly website; who is happy to contribute ideas for future website developments and who can translate non-technical briefs into working technical solutions.

Southampton Solent University’s digital team is a friendly and well-respected group that was recently nominated for the team of the year award. As an organisation, we offer developers the opportunity to work on projects for a fun and energetic target audience who demand excellent digital experiences across all devices.

As well as working in a city centre location, the successful candidate will be remunerated with a salary between £35,609 and £41,255, an excellent contributory pension scheme, Christmas shut down (in addition to annual leave), 23 days annual leave, sick pay, the ability to purchase an NUS Extra card, a relocation scheme, interest-free travel loans, an on-site gym and discounts on a range of essential services.

With a strong track record of innovation and creativity and winner of the Times Higher Education ‘Most Improved Student Experience’ Award 2015, Southampton Solent University has grown to become one of the country’s leading new universities with strong local roots as well as a renowned international reputation.

Now, with a bold and ambitious five-year strategy in place, we aim to build on these achievements as we meet the needs of students, staff and employers within a rapidly changing higher education arena.
