Application Development Manager

£50,000 DOE (Could be negotiable for the right candidate with right skills)

This is a really exciting time in the business and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in major projects, innovation & decision making.

They are now looking for a Manager to join the application development process and the successful candidate will manage, plan and administer the operational and administrative activities for a multi-national development team.

Main duties:

                     Manage a global team responsible for system development and implementation process.

                     Select and build strong functional teams through formal training, mentoring etc

                     Responsible for the development of IT project cost estimates and assessment of potential risks

                     Direct and implement strategic direction and policy within area

                     Promote and direct the reuse of assets across the organisation

                     Participate in and communicate hire, fire, compensation and performance decisions

                     Organise and control the activities of the team. Manage team resources, inc. management of vendor resources (on shore and off shore)

                     Review, evaluate and prepare periodic performance reports of own staff

                     Prepare and communicate progress on team activity

                     Identify key resource conflicts and negotiate resolution across projects

                     Ensure technical design of project and baseline work is in accordance with everything

                     Utilise, reuse and component build where applicable

                     Manage the selection, evaluation, contracting and integration of externally available application software to deliver business system solutions

                     Enforce the utilisation of accepted methodology & tools in a disciplined manner.

                     Ensure the vendor teams are adhering to company standards

Key Skills & Experience:

                     6+ years’ experience in application program development

(this can be a combination of education and work experience).

                     Familiar with methodologies such as Agile etc

                     Experience with frameworks and coding languages such as, JAVA, .Net, & Continuous Integration (CI)

                     Experience of working within a matrix environment and managing multiple sites

                     Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

                     Affiliate with a technical or professional organisation or user group

                     Knowledge of the system development life cycle

                     Excellent communication skills

                     Analytical ability

                     Strong judgment

                     Management skills

                     Ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff
