The opportunity:

Mobile Fun is recruiting for a Development Manager to lead web software development, acting as Scrum Master and providing technical leadership for our web development teams.

Our web development teams build and maintain PHP software for our global website platforms built on the Magento e-commerce PHP framework, and also for our in-house backend business systems which processes orders, manage stock etc.

Mobile Fun is a market-leading online retailer for mobile device accessories, with a strong track record of sustained growth in an exciting market sector. Technologies in use at Mobile Fun include PHP, MySQL, Magento, PHP Frameworks such as Zend & Symfony, AWS Cloudfront/EC2/etc., Apache, Nginx, HTML, CSS, Javascript, git, JQuery, SOAP/JSON/XML/REST web services, New Relic, etc.

Key responsibilities:

- Setting standards for software testing and coordinating git VCS workflow and code deployment.

- Managing application performance, identifying and planning technical refactoring, performance optimisation work, etc.

- Coaching the team on MySQL database optimisation techniques.

- Coordination with external software development teams to integrate work into our systems.

- Line management of a talented team of 5-6 developers including personal development coaching, team development, etc.

- Responsible for interviews, onboarding and organising training. Coordinating internships and inductions for new starters.

- Supervision of Agile/Scrum software development teams through the role of Scrum Master, coaching the team to follow an agile software development approach

- Collaborating with our IT infrastructure team on DevOps projects, improving on-premise, co-located and virtual server infrastructure to support our high-traffic e-commerce requirements.

Skills and Experience:

You will:

- Be significantly experienced in web software development and will have worked on some major web / software development projects.

- Have significant experience with Internet technologies, especially; Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP and other related open source technologies.

- Have a good knowledge of current trends in IT, Internet technologies and cloud-based IT infrastructure.

- Be familiar with techniques to improve application performance, integration and scalability.

- Have excellent team management skills and have experience in staff development.

- Ideally have worked in an Agile software development environment.

- Have a passion for IT / mobile technologies and be excited about joining a market-leading online business.
