Role summary

Ordnance Survey has a world renowned reputation for the quality and accuracy of its authoritative geospatial information, and for many years its intelligent location data has been used by business and government to underpin decision making, drive growth and deliver valuable efficiencies. Building on its geospatial reputation Ordnance Survey is now working with customers across a number of sectors to deliver value-added web and mobile solutions built around spatial data to enable users to meet business objectives and deliver significant levels of ROI.

As part of strengthening our capability we’re looking for two experienced Analysts who will play a key role in the formulation of Ordnance Survey’s next generation of products and services, delivering both customer facing applications and the underpinning services platform. Working closely with Product Owner and Architect, you will be the voice of the end user and customer, understanding their needs and articulating them to the cross functional-development team. You will be responsible for ensuring our software solutions meet the demands of a competitive marketplace that requires frequent, yet compelling releases.

As a consummate facilitator and influencer, you will elicit, communicate and document business and end user goals. You will work with multiple stakeholders to identify dependencies across projects and help align backlogs to achieve goals wider than just one team. Bringing clarity of thought, you will collaborate with product owners to ensure coherence of products and releases and create, prioritise and organise the product backlog into incremental releases; and facilitate delivery estimates bought into and owned by the whole team.

The development team will rely on you to answer questions and clarify details on user stories and participate in daily scrum meetings. You should therefore be experienced in specifying objective acceptance criteria for user stories and be comfortable evaluating products at the end of each sprint and adding or removing stories from the backlog as necessary.

As a follower of industry trends and best practice you will be keen to try out new analytical techniques to continuously improve our skills and capability and foster a learning culture. This is an exciting opportunity to truly make a difference to Ordnance Survey and the way we deliver value to the business.

You will need to demonstrate your track record against the following essential criteria and competencies:

- Skills in Requirements Development (eliciting, analysing, specifying, validating) and Requirements Management

- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (including Agile)

- Skills applying Requirements Analysis within a complex business environment

- BCS Certificate in Requirements Engineering (or equivalent)

Competencies - level 3

- Changing and improving

- Collaborating and partnering

- Delivering at Pace
