It's our mission to deliver safe and sustainable solutions for nuclear clean-up and waste management. While we are not a large organisation, we have a huge remit. We operate at a high level on significant scale projects with multi-sector stakeholders including senior government figures. The programmes themselves are carried out by a number of specialist subsidiary companies. Against this background change can be difficult to drive forward. For the right person, however, this new role will be a chance to shape how our vital organisation goes about assuring, governing and reporting across the whole programme portfolio.

The Portfolio Management Office oversees the full multi billion pound programme portfolio to ensure it delivers everything from meeting government policy to providing value for money. It's where your work and fresh approach will be instrumental in helping us make the right decisions at the right time.

You will raise the strategic planning bar so that 'this is how it should be done' replaces 'this is how we usually do it'. You'll create a step change in the quality of management information covering trend analysis and reports so that we can make informed decisions and interventions. You'll also plan a complete overhaul of risk management that works across multiple sectors.

Ultimately you're going to facilitate, manage and plan a raft of changes within the organisation and, crucially, bring stakeholders, staff and subsidiary companies on board with it from the start.

Clearly, strong leadership skills, gravitas and confidence will be paramount. In addition, you'll need significant experience leading a business-level portfolio management office or a similar operation, and a programme management background in any industry. Lastly you'll be educated to post-graduate level in a related field, and also in project management or business.

It's a unique opportunity in terms of the scope and influence of the role, and of the results we want you to achieve. To apply, please click the APPLY button.
