CAD Design Engineer - Aerospace, Draughting, Catia, NX6.0, I-deas, Manufacturing

Fantastic opportunity for a proven Senior CAD Design Engineer with excellent configuration and change control skills who has worked as either a draughtsman, CAD Engineer or in another technical drawing role, ideally within the aerospace or aircraft industry sectors. You must be qualified to HNC level or above in an appropriate discipline or hold equivalent experience with excellent technical and analytical skills developed in an engineering drawing office environment.

The role:

Due to substantial new technology design project wins, they are looking to expand their draughting and configuration team to support their growing business.

As a Senior CAD Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include: 

- Delivering work packages across a number of programmes. You will provide technical direction and supervision to the team acting as a technical specialist for all aspects of draughting for product development and production purposes. 

- You will be extremely confident with a mainstream CAD package (eg Catia v5, NX6.0, I-deas), with a proven understanding of configuration control principles and of change control management methods. 

- You will maintain an in depth knowledge of new developments and technology.

- The position will also include initial drawing creation, checking, drawing updates and also maintaining configuration control across a range of products. The products include aircraft generators, starters, actuator motors and associated control electronics.

The Candidate:

- A good grounding in engineering drawing practices (eg BS.308) and exposure to change control procedures is highly advantageous. 

- Competency in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) would be preferred. 

- Any exposure to power generation, electronic control or power management/distribution equipment with a solid understanding of up to date manufacturing methods, processes and techniques would be desirable. 

- Verbal and written communication skills must be excellent, as you will need to liaise with colleagues at all levels and be able to document your work.

This role is based within a project team, dealing with colleagues from across the business, offering exposure to Electrical, Mechanical and Systems engineering.
