IT Security Officer

West Midlands-£35-50,000 plus generous benefits

A large financial organisation in the West Midlands is looking for an IT Security Officer to join their ever-expanding company. With a growth in the need for Security this position has become available.

Responsibilities:

>To help identify, prioritise and manage the key IT security risks that face the Society compliant to best practice as the industry evolves.

>To monitor and document the key IT security technical risks, and report on them.

>Improve security incident logging, identification and management.

>Carry out key IT security operational activities in conjunction with relevant IT Teams.

>To regularly review the key IT security risks, and identify where additional monitoring and controls are required.

Skills and Experience:

>The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the technical infrastructure on which the Society's IT solutions are delivered. This will include a full understanding of the majority of the following areas:

­Microsoft Active Directory

­Firewall solutions and event logging

­Server security logging

­Network security

­Connectivity to 3rd parties

­Data access logging

­Security information and event management (SIEM).

>The job holder will be expected to develop their skills and knowledge in technical areas that are new to them. This will include developing an understanding of best practice standards from bodies such as the FCA, BSA and ISO.

>The job holder will work closely with IT technical specialists to understand the IT infrastructure in place.

>The job holder will be able to understand and work with all aspects of the Society's IT infrastructure and systems.

>The job holder will need to have strong analytical skills, as the monitoring role will rely on analysis of a lot of technical data.
