Our design-led, multidiscipline Centre for Innovation will research, incubate and pilot new and emerging digital technologies. Front-end engineers play a key role supporting both rapid prototyping and development of refined proof of concepts. You should have an excellent track record of developing customer-facing digital products while also being curious about the future of human computer interaction. This role provides the opportunity to learn and develop with AR, VR, gestural and conversational-UI, while working with highly impactful domains like policing, healthcare and ad-tech.

Responsibilities:

- Work with design teams to identify optimal technical solutions to UI concepts

- Rapid prototyping of design wireframes into functional user interfaces

- Development of responsive web UIs and interactive data visualizations

- Work as part of an agile software engineering team

- Working with back-end integration and middleware engineers

- Interest and ability to assess new interaction platforms (voice, VR/AR, gesture, wearables), validate their utility and integrate into novel multimodal user experiences

Skills/Experience:

- Expert knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3

- Experience working with CSS pre-processors (SASS, LESS etc)

- Deep knowledge of core JavaScript

- Experience with JavaScript visualization libraries (D3, processing .js etc.)

- Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks

- Experience with JavaScript build tools

- Knowledge and experience of modularized JavaScript development

- Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations

- A portfolio of work (personal website, open-source projects etc.)

- Nice to have -Data Visualization, GIS, Mapping, Node and NPM development
