The Chief Information Owner (CIO) area within DIO Head Office is responsible for the delivery, management and assurance of all IT/IS strategies, policies, standards and services that are applicable to the DIO. CIO has four key pillars; Requirements and Customer Service Team, Design and Transition Team, Delivery and Operations Team and Security and Assurance Team.

The Head of Technology Design & Transition plays key role within the CIO group and DIO. Reporting to the CIO Head, the role is influential and critical to the success of CIO. Leading two cross functional groups (Chief Architect & Business Change) the role is at the centre of DIO technical change and transformation. The job requires knowledge and skills that are both broad and deep with experience of senior technology positions within enterprise environments and leading highly effective teams.

The main requirements of the role are:

- Leading, managing and coaching a number of cross functional teams

- Enabling, supporting and guiding the Architecture, Design, Test, Release & Deployment functions within DIO

- Understand the DIO ‘Business’ to evaluate the relevance of new technology along and align strategic and tactical initiatives.

- Supporting the successful selection, design, test and implementation of technology within DIO

- Contributing to the DIO IT strategy and IT governance processes

- Assessing risk and opportunity within new technology and approaches to IT design

- Ensure the quality and maintenance of documentation and artefacts produced by the group

- Monitor the technology and solution landscape to maintain knowledge of current and emerging technology

- Writing of white papers, options papers etc. that add further insight and thought in the solution area

- Weekly progress and activity reporting
