Mechanical Engineer - £35,000 to £75,000 p/a (all experience accepted) - Cambridge - Med Dev - Permanent

A Mechanical Engineer is required for a Medical Device in Cambridge who are a growing, dynamic company that invests in Design and Innovation, manufacturing technology and maintains excellent career progression routes in the UK.

The role is to carry out a range of engineering activities to assist in the development of components and mechanisms. This is a perfect opportunity for an engineer work in a fast paced environment and on multiple projects at one time to develop and excel their skills within a highly regulated industry.

The role:

* Use of a 3D parametric CAD system

* Develop mathematical models of system or component parts

* Procure prototype parts using rapid prototype techniques and processes

* Carry out tolerance analysis of mechanical systems with the project team

* Write technical reports and produce design documentation

* Carry out FMEA and DFMA analysis on products with the project team

* Liaise with suppliers

* Carry out laboratory testing:

* Define experimental method(s) and apparatus, including creation of test protocols

* Design, procure and build test apparatus

* Validation of the test apparatus where required

* Carry out experimental testing and analysis of results

* Report writing summarising results and key learns

This role requires:

* Experience of conducting test programs and writing reports

* Experimental diligence

* Ability to collect, analyse and interpret data

* Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques and processes

* Knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes, including high volume production (desirable)

* Ability to work in a multi-functional team and to build relationships with peers
