GCHQ works to keep Britain safe and secure in the face of wide-ranging threats from cyberspace and emerging technologies. We’ve begun a major initiative to develop a range of rich web applications that help us more effectively interpret data. Using modern web technologies and tools, such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, they’re a chance for you to experiment with new technologies and share that experience with the wider team.

As a Senior Web Developer you’ll develop cutting edge applications from new concept stage through to leading complex design work. You’ll define the technical work of small teams, acting as their role model and drawing on all your experience to support them.

You’ll have had a significant career so far, leading or being the technical authority on web development projects. Your knowledge will cover technologies such as HTML5; CSS3; JavaScript libraries, frameworks and tools; CSS extensions; Jasmine or QUnit; Git or SVN; Handlebars and more. You’ll also be able to give us links to your work, such as websites you’ve developed, open source JavaScript libraries you’ve created and articles you’ve written or your GitHub home page.

This is a fast-moving organisation that needs high-quality software quickly. That means you’ll need to be able to adapt to constantly evolving user needs. Together with a degree or proven experience in the latest web technologies and tools, you’ll have a background in web application development.
