We've got some ambitious growth plans and we're looking for a talented XML coding oriented developer to join our expanding team.

We're looking for someone who can spearhead our exciting and cutting edge cross-platform projects. You'll need to demonstrate strong knowledge of XML schema definition and strong knowledge of XML processing whilst developing PHP web based applications.

The role will involve the design and build of Application interfaces and schemas, supporting complex application components and open source web applications for Ricardo-AEA's public and private sector clients. You will be adept at working on multiple projects at the same time and have excellent organisational skills. You'll be used to working with project managers and a team of developers to agreed briefs that successfully deliver on the requirements.

The ideal candidate for this role will have proven XML and API experience in web and mobile environments, with exposure to concepts, methodologies and processes used in application development, web design, version control, testing, quality control and content management.

Essential Skills & Experience

*Expert in XML, XML Schemas and XPath

*Atom, RSS, CSV, JSON

*MySQL and Postgres

*Using MVC concepts in PHP

*Building REST APIs in PHP

*Basic use of Linux, Apache and Bash

*Consuming third-party APIs

*Basic statistical methods

*Team working

*Commercial awareness

Desirable Experience:

*XSLT, SPARQL

*RDF, geographic data formats

*No-SQL stores

*Zend Framework

*Perl

*System architecture

*Building SOAP and/or XMLRPC APIs in PHP

*Multi-threaded processing, SOA

*LDAP

*System monitoring, performance tuning

*UK and EU government data standards

*Advanced statistical methods, R, SPSS, MatLab, BI tools

*Experience of working in an agile development environment

*Bidding

*Experience of Government contracts
