This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for delivering excellent customer service to join the BL IT Department to manage the Ingest and Metadata Application Support team.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Application Support and managing a team of Application Specialists you will lead and manage the technical delivery and application support of the Library's Ingest & Metadata services/applications. You will work with business service managers to define, agree, and plan major application changes including new releases of packaged and bespoke software. You will also be required to manage and coordinate resources, both internal and external, matrix and direct, to deliver and support the business service(s) to agreed SLA's and KPI's. You will need to develop and maintain expertise in the Ingest & Metadata supporting software products and pursue continuous improvement, incorporating best practice from industry, commerce and the HE sectors, as appropriate and lead and manage technical delivery of application service initiatives. You will also provide technical analysis, design, specification and implementation planning support.

Your skills and experience

The role requires knowledge and experience of managing services provided both by 3rd parties and internal teams alongside experience of service management, configuration management and change control procedures. You will be able to demonstrate strong influencing skills and ability to work across organisational boundaries as well as having experience of motivating and managing staff. You will be an excellent communicator and be able to work collaboratively. The post holder will have substantial and up-to-date knowledge and experience of application system development and support (including package implementation) and knowledge and experience of one or more structured project methodologies, e.g. PRINCE2.
