The roles

Joining either our Web Capability or Data Capability teams, you'll design, create, test, document and support programs, applications or components that are delivered via the web to help advance our capabilities and commercial success.

This is an opportunity to work with fascinating technology and apply your knowledge to complex challenges as you develop existing software modules and create innovative, high quality solutions. From design through to testing and documentation, you'll experience every step of the software lifecycle, seeing your work through to delivery. This is a role that promises variety, collaboration and interesting challenges. So, you'll need to be comfortable working to sometimes pressured timescales without compromising on high quality. We're constantly moving forwards, striving to enhance our technology and optimise our abilities ' and we'd like you to help us incorporate new technology into our products to help meet the needs of our customers and employees. Keeping up-to-the-minute with industry developments, you'll help to identify relevant new technology and opportunities for optimisation.

The people

Alongside a passionate interest in technology and an eagerness to learn, you'll need to have the following essential criteria to be considered for the role:

1. A qualification in computer science, computing or other numerate subject, or equivalent experience

2. Ability to problem solve and organise work in a structured way

3. Ability to grasp fresh concepts and implement efficient, effective solutions in a timely manner

4. Ability to participate effectively in a team environment and be ableo work independently on allocated tasks

5. Enthusiasm for and understanding of how to provide a professional, high-quality service and work to demanding deadlines

6. Ability to communicate effectively within the immediate team to progress work and deliver results

7. Understanding of software development and an enthusiasm for working in the IT arena

If you have any of the following desirable criteria, then even better:

1. Previous experience of working in a developmental role, preferably in an Agile environment

2. Any previous experience of data analysis tools and techniques

3. Experience of working with any of the following technologies: Java (and associated technologies), Oracle, Javascript, HTML, Linux/Unix, Python

4. Understanding or experience of Restful Web Services, XML, JSON
