AWS ENGINEER - CLOUD ENGINEER: (AWS, AWS STACK, TERRAFORM, AUTOMATION)

The work location is in Leeds and is a 3 month

The role is working for an entertainment leader, innovating in research and development to shape the future of society at large. Working in a company always innovating and thinking ahead.

Essential

· You will have extensive engineering experience with building and maintaining production systems and platforms in AWS. You will have worked in a highly automated fashion using Terraform workflows and CI/CD configuration tools, delivering infrastructure as code.

Desirable

· You have solid experience with JavaScript, both in the browser and on the server. Node.js is our evented language of choice and previous experience building, deploying and managing Node.js applications is essential. Experience with PHP or Go for simple RESTful HTTP APIs is not essential but a big plus.

· You have worked with an application at scale, ideally in a microservices-like architecture. You know the challenges that come with asynchronous service design using message queue technologies, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. You have used a variety of data store technologies like MySQL or Redis.

· You have previous operational experience. It might not have been at the coal face, but you understand the importance of instrumentation, good alert design and fabulous logs. Ideally you will have been part of an on-call response team.

· Experience in the gambling industry is not essential; most of your colleagues are here because of the interesting technology challenge rather than a love of online gaming. But you will have worked on a product where you obsessed about your customers.

Responsibilities

· You'll be part of an engineering team responsible for delivering and continually iterating the product set and providing operational expertise to your colleagues, looking at areas like:

· Development of infrastructure through reusable code with automated tooling and tests

· Use of metrics and monitoring information to ensure performance and reliability

· You are comfortable working in an architectural domain, at ease at a whiteboard debating system design with the squad's Solution Architect and Tech Lead. You are an expert in sustainable software architecture, but don't gold plate or prematurely abstract for a re-use that never materialises.

How you will do it:

· Automate - from small scripts and build pipelines to brand new systems, you'll have a passion for automation and continuous improvement

· Develop - you'll use your coding skills to help build resilient software and infrastructure. We write Ruby, Go, Python or Node.js depending on the problem we're trying to solve.

· Operate - you'll understand how applications and services run in real world production environments, whether it's containers or virtual machines on our own platform or in AWS, you'll know how to keep them running smoothly.

· Using your excellent communication skills, you'll share knowledge and help your team make sound engineering decisions

· You'll always be learning, improving your skills and the systems you work with.
