Systems Engineer, Active Directory, EUC, VDI, SCCM, App-V, Office 365, Windows Server, RDS

A Systems Engineer is required by a global technology firm to join their team in Oxford. The Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic engineering team that is accountable for the design and build of all EUC technology. The ideal Systems Engineer candidate will have significant engineering experience and be a team player, used to working in a collaborative environment.

The Systems Engineer will be surrounded by a brilliant group of technologists and offered the chance to work at the forefront of technological development together with the opportunity to contribute to significant change. The System Engineer will bridge the gap between engineering and support by sharing knowledge and providing guidance to other engineers, on the design, implementation, migration and troubleshooting of the current technology platforms.

The Systems Engineer will have the following experience:

                                                             5+ years’ relevant IT support and project experience.

                                                             Excellent technical skills and experience gained from working within complex Desktop, Mobile and Application environments. You must be able to demonstrate skills supporting complex systems and managing a geographically disparate user base.

                                                             Good experience of infrastructure and application architectures.

                                                             Experience of advanced problem management and troubleshooting techniques, performance and capacity reporting using various tools.

                                                             Good understanding of security best practices, particularly in relation to software patching, data leakage prevention and encryption.

                                                             Experience of working in a geographically dispersed, international organisation.

                                                             Being an innovative and positive team player with excellent communication and service skills, confident in communicating technical issues and managing the demands of non-IT staff and senior stakeholders.

                                                             Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on given tasks to agreed deadlines.

                                                             An eye for detail and the ability to document designs, UAT runbooks, operational guides, KB articles, etc.

                                                             An ability to prioritise and schedule work is essential, within a high-pressured environment

The Systems Engineer will have the following essential skills:

                                                             Experience of troubleshooting Windows desktop operating systems, up to and including Windows 10

                                                             Hands on experience of Operating System upgrades and deployments

                                                             Good experience of VDI platforms and supporting remote desktop users

                                                             Proven knowledge of resolving issues relating to desktop hardware and peripherals

                                                             Good knowledge of Active Directory and troubleshooting Group Policy

                                                             Demonstrable experience of supporting MS Office suite, up to and including 2016/O365

                                                             Mobile Device Management configuration and troubleshooting (Intune)

                                                             Experience of deploying software using Microsoft SCCM, including App-V sequences

                                                             Good knowledge of, and experience troubleshooting and maintaining, desktop security products such as anti-virus, certificates, drive encryption, and OS Patching

                                                             Ability to script in PowerShell to automate complex and repetitive operations, as well as for troubleshooting purposes

Desirable Skills

                                                             Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 operating systems

                                                             Microsoft infrastructure technologies - AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, RDS, DFS, file/print

                                                             Cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services

                                                             Application packaging

                                                             Windows OS deployment using SCCM

                                                             Experience of supporting Apple Mac devices (iOS and MacOS)

                                                             Knowledge of data protection and GDPR

                                                             Knowledge of Amazon WorkSpaces desktop-as-a-service
