Senior Credit Risk Analyst

Location: Manchester

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000

Job Purpose

- To take ownership for the production of the management information for the companies Consumer lending portfolios, ensuring the MI is timely, accurate and fit for purpose.

- To schedule portfolio reviews and be in a position to present the relevant packs as and when required.

- To produce the actual and expected loss rates and support Sales and Finance teams in determining product profitability.

- To support junior members of the team.

- To represent the Credit Risk team on wider business initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Regular reporting packs to include,

- Producing the Board, Exco, Risk Appetite, V12 Portfolio Review, PLD Portfolio Review, Motor Prime Portfolio Review, Motor Near Prime Portfolio Review, Bank of England reporting and SIRA - Fraud reporting.

- The senior analyst will provide additional technical support for changes to reporting code for enhancements to the MI packs.

- Senior analysts will typically present regular reporting and present work to a wider group.

UAT Testing for Motor and PLD in Redline Following Scoring or Strategy changes and UAT testing for V12 in the Decision Metrics system.

The UAT support focusses on the data extracted from Redline or DM. The analysis is done in SAS which is why we would support rather than others in the testing team that do not use SAS.

By assessing larger volumes of test accounts using SAS we are able to cover a much broader set of accounts and highlight additional issues that may have been missed if they were being processed and assessed manually.

Senior analysts would review the testing, especially of more in depth changes such as the recent migration of V12 from Credit Gateway to Decision Metrics. A senior analyst would be required for this level of change as it covered the generation of the new summary fields (multi bureau), unit testing, portfolio testing and summary impact reviews for different scenarios. There is also a project management aspect to larger changes that are required.

Adhoc business analysis across all consumer portfolios to include,

Loss rates, Bad Rates, Provisioning, Accept/Refer/Decline rates, Take up rates, policy rule performance.

This tends to follow our internal review of the regular reporting, or from the senior management team for each portfolio when they are looking at new business or amending terms on current business.

Without this analysis the impacts would not be known so making informed decisions would be more of a challenge.

Senior analysts would focus more on the more advanced analysis such as forecasting, scoring and provisions assignment rather than analysis based on actual outcomes such as accept rates, bad rates, average scores etc.

Pricing support for Finance Directors

Loss rates and the shape of the emergence period are required for all retailers and introducers. Where existing performance is not available this will be forecast.

The senior analysts will typically provide support on the extrapolation of early delinquency rates to challenge the assumptions used and any regression or statistical modelling required to generate the results.
