Senior Finance Controller (IFRS - External Auditing)

We are actively looking to secure a Finance Controller to join Experis as one of our expert consultants, delivering services to our clients.

Job purpose/key responsibilities

You will be a senior member of the team responsible for producing the consolidated financial results of the group for internal and external audiences, and for producing the group's financial statements and reporting. You will also be a key point of contact for the group's external auditors. Your role will include exposure to finance colleagues across all the group's territories on a regular basis.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

Producing the group's consolidated financial result

* Planning and reviewing the production of the group monthly consolidated result

* Provide input to the Performance & Monitoring team in producing consolidated group budgets and forecasts

* Planning and communications with local teams to ensure that instructions are understood and results can be produced accurately and on time

* Maintaining the integrity of the group consolidation process through close liaison with teams across Tax, Treasury and Corporate Finance to adapt to and integrate changes to the group structure

* Integration of new businesses, including embedding our reporting and accounting requirements

* Exercise of governance and control

Production of external financial statements and reports

* Planning and reviewing the production of external financial statements for the group and dealing with requests for ad hoc financial reports from across the group

* Working closely with the group's auditors to ensure a smooth audit process

* Working closely with colleagues across finance and non-finance teams on the production of the half year results and Annual Report

Technical accounting knowledge

* Providing accounting advice to local finance teams on a wide variety of ad hoc queries, including complex and critical areas of accounting such as lease accounting, impairment testing and revenue recognition

* Acting as the financial accounting expert on project teams across corporate and commercial areas of the business

* Accounting advice and due diligence on corporate transactions and commercial deals, including acquisitions/disposals/investments, new products and services etc

* Review of new accounting standards and rules issues by regulatory bodies, preparing updates for senior management and implementing new accounting policy and disclosure requirements

Relationship building

* Build strong relationships with colleagues across the UK, Italy and Germany finance teams to ensure information flow is fluid and clear both ways

Candidate specification

You will be a qualified finance professional with great experience. You will likely have worked in a group financial reporting environment in other large organisations, and/or have experience of financial statement audit for FTSE 100 clients. You will need to demonstrate an ability to work within a highly controlled and process driven environment. You will ideally be able to demonstrate all of the following:

* Building strong relationships across a large, complex organisation

* Experience of working within a financial reporting environment or of auditing corporates

* Experience of working within or for a fast growing, high demand business, with the ability to respond to quickly changing priorities

* Experience of applying IFRS accounting standards

You will need to evidence that you can achieve the following:

* Act as a senior member of the group's financial accounting and reporting team

* Lead the delivery of our financial reporting deliverables for internal and external stakeholders

* Reviewing and preparing accounting analysis and insight

* Leading delivery of governance, controls and accounting analysis

* Make it'brilliantlyeasy' to do Finance stuff

* Build great relationships across Finance and the external partners

* Look for better ways of doing things, and proactively take ownership to see things through

* Use creativity and positivity to solve problems

* Mentoring and coaching other members of the team below Financial Controller level

* Acting as an ambassador for the finance behaviours

Qualifications: ACA qualified or similar, 4+ years PQE

Specialist knowledge: IFRS financial accounting
