Infrastructure Engineer (Networks)

Permanent positions based in Swansea with the possible option to work from Bristol or Swindon £37428 - £42991

We are looking for Network Engineers to help build world class digital services where you'll be part of a team delivering both service excellence and agile change. You will be supporting the programme that migrates legacy technology onto new, cloud-based platforms that shape and deliver up to 50 projects of varying size, risk and complexity paving the way for the future business and service transformation.

DVLA IT Services are continuing the major transformation of our legacy estate utilising an in-house developed and supported set of services. Our services will have the reach to every household in the UK, the size and scale would be the envy of any UK ecommerce service provider, so it will be a fabulous opportunity to make a difference for us and for you.

You will have the opportunity to:-

* Demonstrate knowledge of a technical specialism

* Analyse and resolve service delivery issues

* Work on your own initiative

* Follow and/or contribute to the development of documented processes

* Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities to improve it - continual improvement ethos

* Facilitate small and large changes - working alongside DVLA's Architecture community

* Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across the business

* Work as part of a team to provide knowledge, help and advice

* Develop own skills and actively coach and develop others

* Develop an understanding of DVLA's services

Essential Criteria - Qualifications & Experience

You will have significant professional experience, relating to:

* Delivering and supporting (data or voice) network technologies using vendors such as:-

* Juniper/Avaya/Nortel/Cisco enterprise class switching

* F5 or similar load balancing/WAF/DDOS solutions

* Wide Area Network Technologies and Vendor solutions (such as the following routing protocols - BGP, MPLS, OSPF, RIP Version 2)

and/or

* Delivering and supporting firewall technologies using vendors such as:-

* Checkpoint (Linux experience desirable), Juniper or similar firewalls solutions

* Wide Area Network Technologies and vendor solutions

* Experience in connectivity to and within Cloud technology solutions/providers

* Experience of managing enterprise class monitoring solutions such as - Spectrum, ZenOss, Clearswift, Cisco Ironports, McAfee IDS/IPS and LogRhythm

* ServiceNow or similar solutions

* Configuring and delivering highly availability solutions within the cloud

You should be certified or be able to demonstrate appropriate level of experience in leading network activities in two of the following vendors: Cisco, Juniper, F5, Checkpoint, Nortel, Avaya.
