Position: Graduate Linux Engineer
Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire
Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 DOE + Benefits

The Company:
Our client designs and develops innovative software for HPC/supercomputer systems across
the UK. They are advocates of open-source software and strongly believe in community-driven
development. They have a wide customer base in multiple market sectors including academic/research
institutions, banking, manufacturing and Formula 1.

As a rapidly growing organisation, they now have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Linux Engineer to join them.

The Graduate Linux Engineer Role:
As the Graduate Linux Engineer, you will work on key software products, managing internal processes, systems and functions. You will also be responsible for working on live supercomputer systems throughout the UK and Europe.

Other duties the Graduate Linux Engineer will carry out include;
Research, design and implement new methodologiesDevelop and curate content for HPC users, delivered using our software programs and platformsParticipate in group meetings and make presentations to your peersBe exposed to cutting-edge software technologies and methodologies and help to move the business forwardHands on design, implementation and testingHelp improve the team/company and product processesBe exposed to large scale computer systems and supercomputers, as well as emerging technologies such as public and private IaaS Skills & Experience Required:
Degree level educationAll things Linux, including software compilation and installation, operating systemConfiguration and systems managementWorking individually as well as part of teamsYour interests and skills have particular emphasis on Linux environments and using, installing and configuring open source softwareKeen eye for software testing, release management and continuous integration toolsSolving problems; you understand that most business problems can be solved in numerousWays The Ideal Candidate:
In order to be successful in this Graduate Linux Engineer role, you should be able to demonstrate the following;
Open-source background, with interests in Linux system managementFast mover; you have a strong drive to build a career in cutting-edge developmentCan-do personality, comfortable with communication at all levelsExperience of using scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, Python and R, andExposure to compiling programs in languages such as C, C++ and GoHands-on experience of building and installing open-source software packagesExperience of container environments and tooling (Docker/Kubernetes/Singularity)Looking to learn/develop a wide range of technical skills in a challenging environmentGreat attitude towards learning new and developing existing skills In return, the Graduate Linux Engineer can expect;
