Job Description: Graduate FPGA Digital Design Engineer

Location: Aberdeen

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 + benefits

I am working with a well-known company in Aberdeen who are looking to hire a passionate graduate engineer who has a genuine interest in digital design.

You will be joining the broadcast video compression team and will learn to develop the best-in-class software and FPGA based video encoder and decoder products for broadcast television and video streaming applications.

The role is wide ranging and will involve work on various aspects of internal video codec development. Exposure will be given to both software and FPGA hardware design and development, and associated debug and verification, across all design abstractions from high to low level.

Requirements:

*MEng degree (1st class / 2.1) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent Computing Science degree.

*PhD in Electronic Engineering related area desirable.

*Self-motivated and well organised with the ability to work well in a distributed design team and also as an individual contributor.

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

*Digital design skills, from architectural to gate level.

*Knowledge of FPGA architectures and design techniques.

*Awareness of high speed logic design techniques.

*Software design and implementation skills.

*General computing skills, primarily in a Linux based environment.

Desirable Skills:

*Experience with HDL based design flows and simulation (VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog).

*Good C/C++ skills, preferably for both desktop/server and embedded applications (on FPGA and microcontroller).

*Some experience with Altera/Intel Quartus II or Xilinx Vivado design tools and simulation with ModelSim/QuestaSim or equivalent

*Awareness of digital logic verification techniques.

*Debugging skills for both software and on-chip FPGA debug.

*Knowledge of broadcast video.
