To this end the newly formed Center of Expertise (CoE) Digital in Information Management will support business teams with the highest levels of digital technology and expertise. This will range from customer facing front ends to providing new insights based on enterprise data.

Within this context, your mission in this role is to help Commercial Excellence (CE) teams achieve their Digital ambitions by relentlessly driving the optimization of Customer Experience (CX) in all customer facing digital services. In doing so you lead a Customer Experience (CX) Value Domain team consisting of solution architects and project and service delivery managers, and you draw on an ecosystem of preferred vendors including developers, testers, and system/cloud administrators.

Value Domain Manager Customer Experience

The role and its responsibilities

This important role is based at our Global Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Your core task is to assume end-to-end responsibility of digital initiatives Commercial Excellence processes (mainly Marketing & Sales), and to support business teams with expertise for the development and operation of customer facing solutions (Content Management, PIM, eCommerce, Mobile/AR/VR apps, etc).

In order to achieve this you lead a business driven, stable, and multi-disciplinary Value Domain team that realizes projects and takes end-to-end ownership of the applications it realizes. You manage solution demand and forecast, manage the project portfolio, and provide guidance on project execution.

The team works closely with the product owner from the business side, and with developers and operations teams in a DevOps way of working. The team is responsible for incidents and changes while the application is in DevOps mode. The team is supported by other IM roles, and by Information Architects, Security officers and integration architects.

Within this process you manage the expectations of the business teams and define the criteria for success, including challenging but realizable scope, timelines and budgets. You also signal potential roadblocks and play an active role in steering committees.

In addition you support the business teams with Digital business innovation, and you drive a Digital culture at all times as you work closely with the Marketing, Sales and CE teams, Communications team, third party ecosystem, and other Digital teams (ISC, R&DI etc).

You optimize the (internal and external) Customer Experience, manage knowledge and expertise of Digital Commercial solutions, and ensure adherence to guidelines and best practices. You also define the Digital Technology strategy, deliver the strategic digital portfolio (product subsites, Distributor/Sales apps, MSDS search, customer portal, PIM, Stella.com etc), and initiate Digital innovations.

All of this requires the skills of a knowledgeable, accessible, and committed individual who can thrive in a multi-disciplinary and (partly) agile environment.

You should know to balance clear accountability with the flexibility that enables you to act as a designer, consultant, expert, teacher, leader, or doer as the situation demands.

Candidate profile

To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:

University degree in a subject such as Business Administration or Engineering, and a keen interest in digital technology;

10+ years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within a matrix organization similar to AkzoNobel;

Demonstrable experience with various project methodologies (waterfall, agile and an understanding of when to apply which);

Committed Market/Customer orientation;

Able and willing to operate at a strategic/tactical level as well as an operational level;

Good communication and interpersonal leadership skills including fluent English.
