Description:

CDS Programme. A vacancy for Infrastructure Engineer has arisen within the Pre Production Environment Team in Southend. The team is responsible for the build, support and maintenance of several platforms predominantly built on Oracle Solaris platforms running Weblogic, Apache, off the shelf applications and in-house developed applications.

* Deployment, Maintenance and configuration and live support of the applications and their supporting middleware Work with Architects to translate high level vision into easily implemented and supportable low level technical detail Build and support Pre-production and Live Environments and their associated products. Install, configure and support applications within those environments.

* Ensure the maximum security of the environments Deployment of all relevant changes into production and pre-production environments, e.g. small change requests, bug fixes (fixing/tracking), upgrades and major releases.

* Pro-active monitoring of services, ensuring that faults picked up by monitoring systems are rectified by the relevant teams

Technologies:

* Oracle Solaris, Linux (Red Hat)

* Solaris/Linux scripting

* BEA Portal, Weblogic 8/9/10, J2EE, JBOSS Apache Webserver

Mandatory Technical skills

* Good knowledge of one UNIX O/S and one infrastructure product e.g. Weblogic, Webmethods, Apache, JBOSS etc.

* Knowledge of an IT infrastructure and the IT Lifecycle

* Knowledge of Networking and other IT Infrastructure products, understanding of public key encryption

* Unix Shell scripting

* Exposure to best practice in the deployment and use of infrastructure and middleware

* Appreciation of and some experience of automated deployment of code
