Lead the development of a brand new digital platform at a government department which helps the population prosper.

Taking responsibility for business, industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy and climate change, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is a multi-layered government department. We seek out ways in which the British economy will continue to thrive.

As Head of DevOps, you will lead the development of our new IT desktop and cloud-based platform. Joining us at an exciting time of change in how we work, you’ll deliver a new technology strategy and shape fresh standards, principles and blueprints. Your team will include architects, engineers, developers, analysts and technicians. We will rely on your digital experience and expertise as you drive business-focused IT design solutions and oversee exciting projects. The changes you implement will range from new desktop applications, systems and data architectures, through to the development of SharePoint systems and processes. Along the way, you will work collaboratively with a host of government partners and systems users up to Board level.

To drive the conversation about ICT solutions and deliver successful change, you will need proven experience in a multi-site organisation with a complex and challenging IT environment. Driven to deliver results, your experience spans project and programme management, the setting of software and hardware development strategies, and the delivery of user-focused services in an agile workplace. Naturally, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of DevOps principles and methodologies. A skilled leader and collaborative team player, you’ll bring to the role excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills.
