Are you a Data Warehouse Administrator (DBA) looking to secure your next contract in London? Do you have strong communications and thrive in client-facing opportunities? Our client has a unique opportunity for an experienced DBA with a proven background of backup & storage - lasting a minimum of 10 months and extending for at least 6 months beyond that.

Our client, a global Information Services client in the States, require a UK DBA contact in their UK office. They will mainly be responsible for providing day to day Greenplum DBA support.

You would ideally be a highly self-motivated fast learner - who is passionate about big data and working in a fast paced working environment. You would also have a strong understanding of ITIL/SDLC.

Responsibilities:

* You will be responsible for the day to day running and support of the database warehouse. This would include Greenplum software installation, patch upgrades, performance monitoring, change implementation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, user maintenance, new database setup, educating users, troubleshooting user issues. The role also requires collaborative team work with different groups within the Banking/Financial Sector and will be Client focusing.

Required Skills and Competencies:

* Industry experience of data warehouse or database products: Postgres, Shell/Bash Scripting Exposure

* Familiar with Unix OS and proficient in at least one scripting languages - shell/perl/python

* Excellent Multitasking skill

* Excellent communication skills both written and oral

* Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skill

Highly Desired Skills

* Greenplum DBA experience

Rate: £300 - £400+ a day

Location: Central London

Contract Length: 10 months + 6 month extension

Start date: Immediate - 2 weeks
