Role: Infrastructure Architect

Location: Havant (4 days per week on site, 1 day from home)

Duration: 3-6 months

Role Overview

The Infrastructure Architecture team provides corporate governance of shared infrastructure across the multiple and separate business operations. Infrastructure architects are responsible for working with architecture design and delivery teams across multiple projects, ensuring that as far as possible solutions are implemented onto standard platforms in a consistent manner, and to timescales agreed with the programme.

The role is for an Infrastructure Architect to supplement the existing Infrastructure Architecture team, delivering the physical architecture designs and providing architecture guidance and support to programme architects:

· Review of solution Architecture Definition Documents (ADDs) to ensure conformance to client standards and to understand requirements for provision of infrastructure.

· Updating of ADDs with infrastructure-related information, i.e. the physical view of the architecture.

· Liaison with delivery and support technical teams to ensure validity of technology selection and to ensure that they have enough information to build and support solutions.

· Development of infrastructure-based architecture views and artefacts to define future state architecture.

· Liaison with the Project Manager and Solution Architect to manage change through the development lifecycle to completion. For large scale changes there will be a Project Manager assigned with whom the architect must collaboratively work.

· Where required liaison with 3rd party technology providers through the development lifecycle in shaping solutions.

Key Skills

Technical

· Infrastructure design for compute, storage and connectivity key to this role

· Some understanding of operation within a security conscious environment

· Knowledge of one or more the following technologies would be advantageous

o Microsoft technologies

o Oracle DB technologies

o IBM AIX on P-Series - the midrange UNIX deployment platform for Oracle

o VMWare VSphere on HP blades - the WinTel deployment platform

o EMC SAN technology

o Cisco IP networking technologies including firewall configuration
