Desktop Support Engineer

A nationally respected client, which has been established for 10 years in Stoke On Trent is looking for two Desktop Support (1st Line) Engineers to join their IT team due to continued growth and success.

The Desktop Support Engineer will be reporting to the Company IT Manager and working within a varied 1st line support role and fast-paced environment, taking ownership for calls logged on Helpdesk and when resolving minor issues, delegating technical and/or complex issues appropriately and being flexible to visit users at their workstations.

Key responsibilities:

*Provide assistance to all calls logged and the wider IT Team by completing all activities for new user setup including laptop builds, account creation, change and deletion of user accounts for leavers.

*Logging reports, fixing and escalating to the technical support team.

*Supporting Mobile Devices, preventative maintenance, and restorations of files for users across devices.

*Other duties as required by the Company.

Key skills required:

*Four GCSEs grades C and above or equivalent. A Microsoft Certification or relevant Degree would be desirable but not essential.

*Proven experience is required in a Service Desk, Call Centre, Helpdesk, or support environment; however the desire to progress and develop with a flexible, pro-active approach and willingness to learn is valued as much as several years of experience for this position.

*Strong working knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows XP, 7, 8, and MS Office including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

*Good problem solving experience and analytical skills.

*Some experience with PC hardware set-up and configuration, networking, and understanding of TCP/IP.

*Excellent telephone manner.
