I am recruiting on behalf of a FTSE 100 Engineering Organization and a true market leader within engineering support services. This particular role functions within their nuclear division providing critical engineering support to various clients and the MOD

The purpose of the HSE Advisor role is to provide advice and support on health and safety matters to Key Account Directors, Project Managers and Service/functional managers to support improved safety culture and performance. They are also responsible for undertaking inspection and monitoring activities to monitor compliance with the company's health and safety management arrangements.

Main Purpose of Role

* Provide advice to Responsible Managers on working practices and arrangements to ensure that the work activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with company arrangements and applicable legislation

* Support the Health and Safety Managers in the development of practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health, safety and environment and safe working practices

* Support Managers in promoting a positive local safety culture and safety behaviours, identification of good practices and support to local H,S & E improvement plans

* Provide advice to Responsible Managers and Risk Assessors on the development of safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure that they identify and take account of all relevant hazards and consider how risks could be reduced

* Support the Audit Manager on the management and delivery of the overall health, safety and environmental audit programme and maintain records of findings and reports

* Carry out regular workplace inspections and informal walkabouts to monitor implementation of policies and procedures

* Identify opportunities for continuous health, safety and environmental learning from improvement including setting targets and programmes to maintain OHSAS 18001 (and ISO 14001) accreditation and prevent reoccurrence of incidents and accidents

* Provide support to the Health and Safety Managers and HR on the development of health and safety training packages and deliver training packages for which identified as lead trainer to ensure that the company maintains a SQEP workforce wrt health and safety

Academic Requirements:

1 Level 3 accredited Health & Safety Qualification e.g.

2 BSC Level Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health

3 NVQ Level 3 Health and Safety at Work

4 NEBOSH General Certificate

5 IEMA Certificate

6 Tech IOSH (registered on CPD scheme)

Experience of:

* Proven HSE experience preferably gained within a similar role in the nuclear or other regulated industry

* Good working knowledge of relevant HSE regulations and legislation
