ROLE TITLE: Customer Liaison and Communications Officer

LOCATION: Brussels, NATO HQ

RATE: Negotiable

CLEARANCE: SC or NATO Secret Cleared

DURATION: To start ASAP until June 2018

This is a comms support role where the person would be working in a team of 5 and all are focused on creating, coordinating and providing, all and any communications that are required to be passed to the people who will be moving across the road from the old NATO buildings to the new HQ building. That's around 4000 people in total. Thus there is constantly a huge amount of detailed searching of info, writing emails, uploading material onto the various web-based sites and repositories, handling complaints, and providing most importantly, customer service to all these 4000 individuals (and they range from top diplomats to military generals to support staff) who need to know where to go, when, and what to bring/not bring, etc. Plus the official comms newsletters that need to be created and sent out regularly to everyone and the videos that need to be created, coordinated, and uploaded, and smoothly and efficiently handling any firefighting if someone (important) has turned up to the wrong place or has the wrong equipment or addressing any other issue/concern .

Official list of responsibilities of the role:

* An integral member of the Transition/HQPO team

* Responsible for creating communication updates to NNHQ staff

* Able to prepare and deliver briefings and updates via multiple channels; email, intra-web, presentations both customised (small groups or senior executives) and general to large groups

* Provide feedback to Transition/HQPO Team on concerns/questions

* Be pro-active in addressing concerns raised at every level

* Support communications during and post transition

* Be confident in verbal and written communications

* Be prepared to 'walk-the-floor' to gain intelligence and identify problems

* Fluent in English (written and verbal)

* Ideally be able to communicate in French

How do we know we have the right person:

- Has been involved in similar comms roles before

- Can use SharePoint, email, Office, etc., confidently

- Is customer service oriented and portrays a proactive and can-solve attitude

- Has very good writing skills (with minimal supervision…i.e. you know what needs to be written and how to write it)

- Has very good verbal communication skills and experience of handling difficult stakeholders (or dealing with 'annoying people'…)

- Can speak one of the two languages very well (French he is ok at a non-advanced-level if the person can demonstrate that they can speak confidently in English)
