Position: Test & Engineering Manager
Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 DOE + Benefits

Our client has a long history of developing innovative solutions to bring a better quality of life to the world. Their Electronics division is a diversified manufacturer of electronic devices and value-added manufacturing services.

They provide their customers with the manufacturing capabilities and purchasing power of a global Electronics Manufacturing Services provider.

Due to their continued growth, they are now looking for a Test & Engineering Manager to join them.

The Test & Engineering Manager Role:
The Test and Engineering Manager will provide management direction of all phases of in-house/outsourced manufacturing for a product (or product line) from new product introduction to completion.

You will function as the principal lead with design, manufacturing, quality and test as the product(s) move to completion and distribution.

The Test & Engineering Manager will also ensure defined production and test processes and documentation will result in products shipped that conform to customer specifications and quality goals.

Key Responsibilities of the Test & Engineering Manager:
Provide leadership and direction to the engineering and test teams, coordinating and directing projects, making detailed SMART plans to accomplish company objectives, goals, processes and direct the integration of all technical activitiesTake responsibility for the NPI process including establishing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met for production schedulesManage Test & Test Solutions team ensuring the delivery of test procedures and test equipment meet the customer’s requirements. Take part in face to face meeting with customers at the start and during the development of a test solutionProvide stage gate introduction of product(s) for all NPI’s and ensure feedback is appropriately acted and reported uponCarry out all elements of the NPI process when acting as principal lead on particular projects. Act swiftly to changes and implement those changes accordinglyResponsible for the Engineering Change process including establishing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met for production schedules, along with undertaking all relevant processes whilst acting quickly to any required changesOversee the process engineering function and establish process priorities for the engineers in conjunction production.Oversee all elements of Production Test, including ownership of the deskilled processesAssist, monitor and mentor all engineers & test technicians in all projects and work priorities to achieve required deadlines, ensuring that full accountability is maintained  Identify key products and core customers where efficiencies can justifiably be improved and ensure all engineering & test personnel understand and achieve their cost saving targetsProvide engineering & test support to customers as and when required, ensuring accurate record keeping of time spent is recorded (whether chargeable or not)Assist Commercial with quotations by providing accurate and considered assembly times along with detailed NRE requirementsAttend Management and customer meetings as required and provide reports as requested Skills & Experience Required:
Ideally educated to HND, BSc level or above preferably with a Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree or a highly demonstrable engineering/technical backgroundProven ability to fault find down to component level on printed circuit assembliesProven experience of electronic/electro-mechanical manufacturing with a technical understanding and working knowledge of PCBA manufacturing and testProven ability to read and understand manufacturing data, circuit diagrams and mechanical drawingsProven experience in external and internal customer engagementExperience of project management in a manufacturing environmentAbility to lead and manage a team of engineers & test techniciansStrong MS Office skills In return, the Test & Engineering Manager can expect;
