Key Responsibilities:

The role provides an opportunity to take part and influence a greenfield project, while solving very complex problems to implement contemporary technologies (Open source).

In order to be considered for this role candidates must have the following skills:

* Experience in Agile, TDD, BDD and XP

* Core Java development

* Big Data: NoSQL, Hadoop and related tools

* Scala: Nice to have

The role is for a strong technologist and the banking knowledge is nice to have, therefore agile techies with experience around open source technologies and devops are highly encouraged to apply.

The candidate is expected to contribute to every aspect of the full stack delivery process. Where the process involves talking to customers, analysis of data, design, writing tests, shipping code, ad-hoc support ….. Ownership.

Overview of the department / team (team size, backgrounds, personalities …):

The team size is currently two with a third member joining in Q2. This role takes the team size to 4. It is anticipated that by year end we may be sized somewhere between 4 to 8 developers.

The culture is very much developer led, every team member writes code, and the belief is that small teams deliver the most productivity. If you are in the team you have a seat at the table and all seats are equal.

Pairing is encouraged but not mandated. The project would be considered Agile but will unlikely fit a documented methodology like scrum, xp, etc... Self-governing teams find what process suits them best and it is rarely the same across different projects.

Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:

The customers are in Apac.

There are strict regulations relating to certain aspects of the data availability.

The existing architectural landscape is vast, diverse and has varying degrees of legacy status.
