I am recruiting a Principal Marine Systems Engineer to work for a FTSE 250 Engineering Support Services Organisation in Bristol. This role functions within their Marine and Technology Division, which provides vital engineering services to key clients, such as the Royal Navy.

Reporting into the Chief Engineers, you will ensure the proactive management of Systems and Equipment design intent and the underpinning hazard, maintenance, documentation, configuration and Systems Design Baseline management

Provide the timely provision of authoritative advice and recommendations to key stakeholders to safely manage deviation from the expected performance, material state or operational use.

* Provide proactive and supportive Technical Authority services to the Customer within delegated authority, working collaboratively with other stakeholders.

* Sponsor the requirements for design intent maintenance and update.

* Develop plans for the through life maintenance and update of Systems & Equipment design intent.

* Provide authoritative input to the processes for remedial / change activity to design, operation and training to maintain and improve capable, available and safe to operate platform systems.

* Provide direction and guidance to Senior Engineers and the Technical Services team where their outputs are within the scope of the post holders allocated Systems and Equipment responsibilities.

* Lead the concession investigation, management and decision making processes, issuing concession advice within delegated authority and developing concession proposals for approval where outside delegated authority.

* Lead the provision of timely and accurate response to technical queries to the customer, issuing advice within delegated authority and developing proposed responses for approval where outside delegated authority.

* Manage the provision of timely and accurate provision of safety case reports and certificates of clearance for use.

* Provide proactive advice & recommendations to manage Systems & Equipment safety, performance, maintenance, defects, obsolescence & configuration within delegated authority.

Required Experience

* Degree qualified and a Chartered Engineer or having demonstrable equivalent experience.

* Significant experience of engineering design or support for complex naval systems or equipment.

* Experience in managing an engineering team.

* Proven competence in the engineering management of systems and transversals.

* A proven ability to work in a collaborative manner across a multi-disciplinary team and stakeholders.
