PHP Engineer

Salary paying up to £80,000 + Benefits

PHP Developer experienced with MySQL needed to join a rapidly growing team, who specialise in transforming the way we select our broadband provider.

With a mission of being the UK's best provider, the company collects huge volumes of data from a variety of different sources that is all processed by the backend development team.

The company is now looking for someone to contribute directly to both external and internal projects including the core analytics and data processing platforms. Through cloud web services APIs, those core platforms power applications that are used daily by international public and private sector clients, as well as lots of private citizens.

Role

You will be working on developing solid projects, powered by Symfony 2/3 components that incorporate best practices, such as comprehensive unit & functional test suites, and integrate common industry principles.

You have at least 3 years of experience with SQL databases and consider yourself comfortable with writing complex SQL for use on database engines such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. You will be exposed to a range of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Presto, and Hive extensively within the development team and experience with these technologies would be a great asset; however we don't expect you to have experience in all these technologies.

REQUIREMENTS

*PHP 7 with an MVC framework (Symfony preferred)

*Strong SQL (MySQL preferred)

*Git

*API development

*Automated testing (functional, integration and unit testing)

*Linux CLI basics (e.g. Apache / PHP configurations)

*Grounding in mathematics/statistics

*Hadoop / HDFS / Presto

*Docker
